Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church.
Some questions you might have about our church services...
During the Covid-19 lockdown all services are online - see our Resources pages.
Our Sunday Services are normally held at 10.30am and 7pm each Sunday in our church building on Thames Street (opposite St Peter's Church) which is just off High Street. You can see a map on our contact us
There is a small pay-and-display car park directly adjacent to the church, and a much larger pay-and-display car park just a little further down Thames Street (also accessible from Wood Street). Parking is free on Sundays as well as on weekday evenings.
You will receive a warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team
who will be able to answer your questions and help you find a seat. You might like to pick up one of our welcome cards from the foyer if you would like someone to get in touch with you following your visit.
We usually start our morning service with a time of worship and then the children and young people will go to their groups. One of our Ministers (or another leader) will then read from the Bible and preach a sermon relating to that. We will usually include time in our service to pray for the needs of our community and the world.
A collection towards God's work through our church is usually taken during one of the songs, but as a visitor we hope you will not feel under any pressure to contribute. Many of our most committed regulars will not be putting anything in the dish as most of us give via standing order. However, should you wish to give, you may be pleased to know that we are able to reclaim gift aid on anonymous cash donations under the government's Small Donation Scheme.
After the service (which usually lasts for 90 minutes) we serve tea, coffee and biscuits. This is a great opportunity to meet people, ask questions or ask someone to pray with you.
Our evening services are smaller and more informal and start at 7pm.

Groups for children and young people take place during part of most Sunday morning services although we also hold occasional ‘all-age’ services.
We cater for children from birth upwards. Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship together for the first part of the morning. Someone will announce when the children and young people can go to their groups. If this is your first time with us you may want to go with your children to see where they will be and meet the people running their programme. If you have very young children you are very welcome to stay with them in the crèche.
In the evenings Chatterbox (for children in school years 6-8) usually meets in the Living Room - check the calendar to see if this is running. Youth Life Group (for those in years 9-13) meets in leaders homes most weeks too - again, check the calendar.
WBC has adopted a Safeguarding Children policy
which ensures all those who work with children have gone through rigorous vetting and are trained to manage children and youth.
