New to Church?

00 Welcome Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church.

Some key information about the church...

When & where do church services take place?

Our Sunday Services are normally held at 10.30am and 5pm each Sunday. Groups for children and young people take place during part of most Sunday morning services although we also hold occasional ‘all-age’ services. Our 5pm service is known as 'ReFresh' and lasts for one hour. There are activities for children as part of ReFresh. Find more information on Sunday Services.

Both services take place in our church building on Thames Street (opposite St Peter's Church) which is just off High Street. You can see a map on our contact us page.

There is a small pay-and-display car park directly adjacent to the church, and a much larger pay-and-display car-park just a little further down Thames Street (also accessible from Wood Street).
Parking is free on Sundays as well as on weekday evenings.

What should I expect when I come to a service?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and help you find a seat. We usually start our morning service with a time of worship and then the children and young people will go to their groups. One of our Ministers (or another leader) wlll then read from the Bible and then preach a sermon relating to that. We will usually include time in our service to pray for the needs of our community and the world.  After the service (which usually lasts for 90 minutes) we serve tea, coffee and biscuits. This is a great opportunity to meet people, ask questions or ask someone to pray with you.
Our ReFresh service is similar but more informal - and we have tea and coffee before the service rather than afterwards!.

What happens to the children at church?

We have a fantastic programme for children from birth upwards!  Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship together for the first part of the morning. Someone will announce when the children can go to their programme. If this is your first time with us you may want to go with your children to see where they will be and meet the people running their programme.

WBC has adopted a child protection policy which ensures all those who work with children have gone through rigorous vetting and are trained to manage children and youth.

For more information about our programmes for kids and teenagers work please visit the relevant age groups for you under church life.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all!
You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.

I have more questions, how can I get in touch and ask them?

Please feel free to contact us.  If you want to know about the leadership of the church, check out our Staff and Leadership page.
