New year resolutions and routines

The start of the New Year is a good opportunity to reassess our priorities. Psalm 84 says:
‘Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young, a place near your altar…Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you’
The psalmist is reflecting on how just as he has seen physically that the birds have found a home near to the Lord (in the temple) to live their lives and to grow a family so the ‘blessed’ are those who do that spiritually. We believe as church we build our lives in the presence of the Lord as we commit to his presence at Sunday worship and a life group and its values. So we hope you will use the discipline of a diary to prioritize these this year.
A reminder that for those who find 10:30am on a Sunday difficult we have a 7pm service. We would encourage everyone to come to our 7pm this Sunday as we recommit to our work and ministry of CAP (Christians Against Poverty). And this Sunday evening we are looking forward to hearing stories from Sue about how the Lord has used CAP locally last year and how we can be involved this year. We would particularly love to commission all those already involved in this ministry and to help those not involved consider how they might be.
We believe Life groups are important and hope you are connected to one. If not please speak to Esther or myself. We also have life groups for young people which we believe are significant for their discipleship. Chatterbox meets every other week on a Sunday at 7pm for those in school years 6, 7 and 8 and YLG meets weekly 7 or 7:30pm for those in school year 9-13. We really do appreciate the support of parents encouraging, taxiing and praying for their young people to attend. As a church we see these discipleship groups as significant in developing your young people's faith. Both Chatterbox and YLG start back this Sunday.
Finally can I remind you that we also run two other youth activities Blast/Pod on Friday night 7pm to 9:30pm for those in school years 5-10, and a youth drop in at the living room after school on a Monday 3:30pm to 5pm for those at secondary school. These are opportunities for our young people to invite friends and for us to invite other young people of our community to find a safe space. We are also looking for older youth 16+ to help us run these and grow their experience and skills for the future.
Thank you for all your support and as always both Esther and I are around to help you in your faith and discipleship this year. So do feel free to contact us for a chat and prayer in helping you to ‘press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.’
Warmly in Jesus
