The Spiritual Child
Training day for all those involved in work with under-18s
If you are involved in any aspect of our children’s and youth work you should be aware that we have our annual training day on March 2nd. This year Clare Hooper, SCBA Regional Minister, will help us think about how we reach and disciple children and young people.
This event is being advertised throughout SCBA. Those from other churches will have to pay to attend but this training is being provided free to anyone from WBC. Those involved in children’s and youth work are expected to attend either the morning, afternoon or the whole day (depending on which age group/s you work with.) Any parents or others who are interested in attending are also welcome.
This is from the SCBA publicity:
The Spiritual Child: understanding and nurturing faith in children and young people
Saturday 2nd March, 9.30am-3.30pm
With Clare Hooper (SCBA Children’s, Youth & Families Minister)
Child Development research recognises that children have an inherent spirituality which needs to be nurtured alongside their physical and emotional development. Jesus commended the faith of children and their value in God’s kingdom.
Drawing on secular research, this training asks what we can learn about faith development so that we can meaningfully share the good news of Jesus with children/young people and help them grow and develop their faith in God. There will be time for discussion and reflection on your own setting and practice so ideally come along with others from your team.
The morning sessions will focus on 0-11 years and will include working with families in mission
areas such as toddler groups. The afternoon session will focus on 11-18 years.
Where: Wallingford Baptist, Thames St, Wallingford, OX10 0BH
Cost: £10 for the whole day (drinks/biscuits included but bring your own lunch) or £5 per session (9.30am-12.15pm) or (12.45-3.30pm). (payable on the day, cheque or cash)
Whether you are a WBC regular or external, please email Heather Wright (firstname.lastname@example.org) to register. Please let her know which sessions you plan to attend.
